How Long Does Brow Lamination Last? | 7-Week Results
Share this post
If you're considering brow lamination, one of the biggest questions is probably: how long does brow lamination actually last?
You'll often see brow lamination described as lasting around 6–8 weeks, but what does that really mean? Do your brows stay perfectly fluffy for eight weeks and then suddenly go back to normal? Not quite! Rather than relying on a standard timeframe, I decided to test it properly on my own brows and film to show you what they actually looked like as the weeks went by.
From freshly laminated brows on day one, through a tint and shape top-up, to the point where the lamination had mostly worn off at seven weeks, here's what actually happened....
How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?
Brow lamination will generally last around 8 weeks, although this varies depending on your individual brow hairs, natural growth cycle and how you look after them.
The important thing to understand is that brow lamination doesn't suddenly disappear.
Instead, the brows gradually become softer and less structured. New untreated hairs grow through, previously treated hairs naturally shed and, over time, you'll find you need to put a little more effort into styling them.
Here's how mine changed over seven weeks.
Before Brow Lamination
Before my treatment, it had been about 9/10 weeks since my last lamination; I'd let them grow out.
Brow lamination doesn't add any additional hairs. Instead, the treatment flattens and changes the direction and position of your existing brow hairs, which can make them appear fuller, fluffier and more defined.
And it doesn't have to mean huge brows brushed vertically upwards! The finished shape can be customised depending on your natural brows and the look you actually want.
Day 1: Freshly Laminated, Tinted & Waxed
Day one is when my brows looked their boldest, flattest and most defined and when the colour was at its darkest immediately after the treatment. This is worth knowing if you're having brow lamination for the first time. How your brows look immediately after your appointment isn't necessarily how they'll look for the next six weeks.
The tint softens, and the brows themselves begin to settle into a fluffier, more natural finish.
So don't panic if your first thought is, "Wow, they're quite bold!" 😂 As most clients prefer a bit bolder so the tint settles into their required colour.
Day 2: Settling In
By day two, my brows were already beginning to soften.
They were still sleek and lifted, but the freshly laminated appearance was settling and the tint was starting to mellow.
This is the beginning of the brows moving away from that very fresh day-one finish towards the softer look you'll have as you start styling them yourself.
Week 1: Loving the Shape
At one week, my brows were soft, lifted and much more natural-looking.
For me, this is one of the things I like about brow lamination. You're not adding anything to the brows — you're simply making more of the brow hairs that are already there.
Once they've settled, you can also brush and style them into the position you prefer rather than having one fixed brow shape.
Week 3: Still Going Strong
At three weeks, my brow lamination was still holding really well.
Brow lamination is a chemical treatment, so aftercare and conditioning are particularly important. I regularly condition my brows and comb them into position.
I use Beautiful Brows & Lashes TOXX conditioning aftercare twice a day to help keep my brow hairs hydrated and conditioned. I recommend using a specialist brow-lamination conditioner regularly, particularly if you plan to have the treatment repeatedly.
I actually leave mine beside my toothbrush as a reminder to apply it morning and evening!
Week 4: Time for a Brow Top-Up
At around four weeks, my brow hairs had grown and the tint had faded, but the brows were still laminated.
So rather than repeating the chemical lamination treatment, this is a great time for a brow tint and shape top-up if you feel you need one. Refreshing the colour and tidying the shape can make a big difference while allowing you to wait until it's appropriate to laminate the brows again.
This is also why I don't treat every brow appointment as exactly the same. I have different professional tint and stain options available and can customise the colour and finish depending on your brows, skin tone and whether you prefer something very natural or more defined.
Week 5: The Lift Starts to Relax
At around five weeks, I could see that the lift was beginning to loosen.
My brows hadn't suddenly returned to how they looked before the treatment. Instead, I needed to put a little more effort into brushing the hairs into position and getting the shape to hold. This is completely normal.
By now, you'll have a mixture of flatter, treated hairs and newer untreated hairs growing through, so the overall brow gradually becomes less uniform.
Week 6: Starting to Wear Off
By week six, I could really feel that the lift was nearing the end of its life.
Again, the brows didn't suddenly drop back into their original position, but they felt less controlled and needed more styling to create the shape I wanted.
This is a good example of what I mean when I say brow lamination gradually wears off rather than disappearing overnight.
Week 7: Time to Book Back In
By week seven, the lamination had mostly worn off and the fluffy shape was becoming harder to maintain. I could still brush my brows upwards for maximum lift or style the hairs more sideways for a softer, more natural finish, but they no longer held their position as easily.
For my brows, week 8 felt like the right time to book back in for my next brow lamination.
However, some people whose brow hairs grow more slowly, or who are happy with a softer, more natural look as the lamination grows out, may comfortably wait 10+ weeks before having their brows laminated again.
That's why “around 8 weeks” is best thought of as a guide rather than a promise that your brows will look exactly the same throughout that entire period.
For me, the journey looked something like this:
Day 1: Bold and freshly laminated
Day 2: Beginning to soften
Week 1: Soft, lifted and fluffy
Week 3: Still holding beautifully
Week 4: Tint and shape ready for a refresh
Week 5: Lift starting to relax
Week 6: Becoming harder to control
Week 7: Ready for my next lamination
Your own timeline may be slightly different — and that's completely normal.

Can You Have a Brow Tint and Shape Between Laminations?
Yes — and my own brows are a good example of why this can be useful.
Your tint and brow shape won't necessarily last as long as the lamination itself.
If your lamination is still holding but the colour has faded or the brows need reshaping, you can have a brow tint or stain and wax/thread between lamination appointments where suitable.
There's no need to repeat the entire lamination simply because your tint has faded.
How Often Should You Have Brow Lamination?
Because brow lamination is a chemical treatment, I generally recommend leaving around 8 weeks between brow lamination appointments. This gives the brow hairs time to grow through and helps us avoid unnecessarily over-processing them.
Occasionally, a brow lamination may be suitable at around 6 weeks, but this isn't something I'd recommend doing routinely. I would first look at how much new growth you have and, most importantly, the condition of your brow hairs before deciding whether they're ready to be laminated again.
Healthy brow hair always comes first.
If your brows need refreshing before you're ready for another lamination, a tint or stain with a wax/thread and shape at around four weeks can be a great way to freshen them up without repeating the chemical treatment too soon.
Why Is Brow Lamination Aftercare So Important?
Brow lamination is a chemical treatment, so looking after the condition of the brow hair afterwards is really important.
I recommend using a specialist brow-conditioning product regularly after lamination to help keep the hairs hydrated, conditioned and healthy as they grow.
I personally used Beautiful Brows & Lashes TOXX conditioning aftercare twice a day throughout my brow-lamination experiment, along with regularly combing my brows into position.
Keeping the brow hairs well conditioned won't stop your natural growth cycle or make a lamination last forever, but it helps maintain the condition and flexibility of the hair, which is particularly important if you have brow lamination regularly.
Good home care also means we're starting with healthier, better-conditioned brow hairs when it's eventually time for your next treatment.
Does Brow Lamination Have to Look Really Flat and Stuck Up?
No! There's a misconception that brow lamination always means extremely large brows with every hair brushed vertically upwards.
Brow lamination is customisable. Some people love a fuller, fluffy look, while others simply want their natural brow hairs to sit more neatly and create a little extra shape and fullness.
As you can see towards the end of my video, even the same brows can be brushed upwards for maximum lift or more sideways for a softer, more natural result.
Your natural brows and personal preference should determine the finished look.
Prefer a bolder brow? Brow lamination can also be styled for a much fuller, more lifted and defined result. This recent treatment shows how different the finished look can be when a client prefers a bolder brow.
The aim isn't to give everybody the same laminated brow — it's to create the finish that suits your brows and your style.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does brow lamination last?
Brow lamination generally lasts around 6–8 weeks, although this varies depending on your natural brow hairs, growth cycle and aftercare. The effect gradually softens rather than suddenly disappearing.
When does brow lamination look its best?
That's personal preference! Immediately afterwards, brows can look very bold and defined. Over the following days they soften into a fluffier, more natural-looking result.
Why do my brows look so dark after brow lamination?
As you've also had your brows tinted, the colour will usually look strongest immediately after treatment before gradually softening. Freshly laminated hairs can also look particularly defined on day one.
Can I tint my brows between brow lamination appointments?
Yes, where suitable. If your lamination is still holding but the colour has faded, a brow tint/stain and shape can be a useful way to refresh your brows between lamination treatments.
What happens when brow lamination grows out?
It doesn't suddenly disappear. The brows gradually become less structured as treated hairs shed, new untreated hairs grow through and the laminated hairs begin to relax.
Do I need to style my brows after lamination?
Usually, yes — but it should be quick. Brow lamination makes the hairs easier to position, but you'll still want to brush them into your preferred shape, particularly as the treatment begins to grow out.
How often can I have brow lamination?
I generally recommend waiting around 8 weeks between brow lamination treatments. Occasionally, 6 weeks may be suitable depending on your brow growth and the condition of the hair, but I wouldn't recommend routinely laminating every 6 weeks. Brow health always comes first.
Do I need a patch test for brow lamination?
Yes. A patch test is required before your treatment and needs to be completed within the required timeframe before your appointment.
Ready to Try Brow Lamination in Bristol?
If you'd like fuller-looking, more manageable brows without adding extra hair, brow lamination could be a great option.
And as my own seven-week experiment shows, the result doesn't stay frozen in time. Your brows gradually change from freshly defined to softer and more natural as the treatment grows out.
