  • How can I check if you are available on my wedding day?

Please contact me to check availability.  I do have an online booking calendar, however weekends are blocked out for wedding bookings, so please contact me directly to book. However, if you would like to arrange a telephone or in-person consultation, please click here to book online.

  • How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you can!  As there is only one of me, when I'm booked, I'm booked - my availability varies so it's always worth checking if I'm available. I'm happy to accept bookings up to 18 months in advance.

  • Will you be the person doing my hair and/or makeup on the wedding day?

It depends on the size and ceremony time of your wedding.  I do have a lot of other stylist/artists that I work with for larger weddings.  Please contact me directly to discuss this.

  • Are You Insured?

Yes!  I have 1 million / £1,000,000 insurance for Medical Malpractice, Professional Indemnity & Public/Products Liability.

  • How Far Do You Travel? Do you charge for parking?

I provide a fully mobile wedding hair and makeup service.  I am more than happy to travel to you anywhere in South West England (Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon and surrounding areas) or further afield!

Please contact me for a quote as travel and parking fees may apply depending on the size and location of your wedding.

  • Can I arrange a consultation before I book?

Yes, you can book this easily online

You are welcome to have this consultation via phone, Zoom or in person at my home salon in Lyde Green, Bristol.

  • Can I see photographs of brides whose makeup you did?

Of course!  Please visit my Gallery Page

  • Can I contact previous Brides for references?

Or course!  I am very grateful for all the reviews I receive from previous Brides, just click here.

  • How do you charge—by the hour or per person?

I charge per person, per service, eg: Bride Hair.  This is the fairest way, as I know roughly how long it takes.

  • What does your price include?

The bridal price is more, as this includes my administration time and costs, as well as time to travel, set up, and back up.

  • Why is wedding hair and makeup more expensive?

This is because most weddings take place during unsociable hours. I often start work at 6am and work most weekends, especially during the summer, limiting my social life.  It can also be incredibly stressful working while brides are very nervous and can't keep still themselves, or are distracted by wedding suppliers or last-minute organisation.

  • Are you able to accommodate hair and/or makeup for the whole wedding party?

Yes! I will make sure your whole wedding party is picture-perfect; Whether they would like hair, makeup or a mix of both! I am able to take care of bridesmaids, mothers of the bride/groom and junior flower girls needs.

If you have a large wedding party, I may be able to arrange for another makeup artist / hair stylist.

  • How many weddings do you do in one day? (Will mine be the only one, or will you have to get to another wedding or event?)

I normally only take multiple wedding bookings if the second wedding takes place after the first has ended (eg if the first bride has to leave at 11am, and the second bride's wedding ceremony is mid-afternoon)

If I have a lunchtime wedding booking, and another bride requests my services i will always make it clear if I have to leave at a certain time for an existing booking.

  • Do you charge extra if you come to my venue?

Please contact me for a quote, as it depends on the size and location of your wedding.

  • Do you require a deposit?

Yes, I ask for the cost of the bridal trial as a deposit.

  • What are your payment terms?

    • The cost of the trial is required to secure my services for your wedding day.
    • There is nothing more to pay until after your trial, which is when I ask for 50% deposit to confirm your wedding day booking.
    • Please pay the remaining balance 1 month before your big day.

All payments are non-refundable and will be deducted from the balance.

Please note a minimum charge may apply to selective dates

  • What do you charge?

Please click here to view my prices, however, please contact me for a quote!

Trial Questions

  • How can I book a trial?

Either contact Jackie, or book directly online here: https://bookings.gettimely.com/JaxGlamBeauty/

  • Where does the trial take place?

The trial takes place at my home studio in Lyde Green, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, BS16 7NX

  • When should the trial take place?

Ideally, it will take place 2-3 months before your big day.  However, you are welcome to have the trial whenever you feel ready to decide on the style.  Some brides find it helpful to arrange the trial on the same day as a dress fitting so they can see the complete look.

  • How long is the trial?

I allow up to an hour for hair, and an hour for the bridal makeup trial to go through ideas and road test styles ready for your big day. Notes and pictures are taken to replicate the look on your wedding morning.

For the rest of the wedding party, I allow approx. 40 mins per hair or makeup trial.

  • What do I need to do before my hair / makeup trial?

    Makeup:

Please arrive without any makeup. Please cleanse, tone and moisturise as normal in preparation for the makeup.

    Hair:

Please wash your hair the day before, and do not heat style or put any product in your hair as hair will stay in place much better with a day+ of natural oils.

If you are having hair accessories, please have these with you so we can incorporate them into the style, however, I do have some basic accessories with me to try with the style.

It might be nice to wear a light / white top to help you feel more bridal.  We will start the trial with a consultation, where I will ask to see a picture of your dress, any Pinterest or mood boards you have of hair and makeup styles you wish to try.

  • What Happens At The Trial?

Please Click Here to read my blog

  • Can I look at suggestions of styles

You are welcome to bring in any inspirational images to try on your trial. You can view styles I have done before on my website, Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram

  • Do I have to have a trial run? What if I can't have a trial?

A trial run is definitely recommended to ensure you are completely happy prior to your big day, and gives you the opportunity to try out different styles.

However, if you are unable to have a trial due to location, time or costs, then just let me know.  I have done lots of brides without a trial for various reasons.  I would just allow more time on the day to ensure we can make any adjustments to the style if requied.

  • What if I'm not happy?

At the trial, I will work with you to build the look to ensure you are happy.  I will check with you throughout the look and encourage you to make any tweaks or changes.

If, for any reason after your trial, you are not happy, then you can cancel your wedding booking with no extra costs/charges.  I only ask for the cost of your trial to book my services as I do not want you to feel financially obliged to go ahead with your wedding day services after your trial if you are not completely happy.

Makeup Questions

  • What makeup styles can you do?

I am happy to achieve any makeup look you require, from a natural, subtle, no makeup look to a heavy glamour with lashes and contour, and everything in between.

Not sure how to have your makeup? Don't worry - this is what the trial is for! We can go through looks and styles depending on your outfit and hair /face type and tone.  I can build this up with you to ensure you feel like the best version of you for your wedding day.

  • Can i look at suggestions of styles?

You are welcome to bring in any inspirational images to try on your trial, and you can view styles I have done before on my website, Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram

  • What brands of makeup do you use?

I use a wide range of professional makeup products, including  MAC, Urban Decay, Morphe, Bobbi Brown, Kryolan, Laura Mercier, HD Brows, Too Faced, Anastasia, Huda Beauty, Tarte and Airbase Airbrush Makeup.

  • Do you have the right makeup/makeup skills for my skin tone?

Yes, I have a wide range of colours and products to suit every skin tone and skin type.

  • How Hygienic is your makeup?

After every client, all brushes and products are sprayed with an IPA based cleaner.  Makeup Brushes are dipped in a dapper dish filled with IPA to ensure they are completely soaked, then wiped on a clean tissue to ensure every brush strand is clean and sanitised ready for the next use.

I use disposables wherever possible and do not double-dip.  I always use disposable Mascara wands.  I use cotton buds to apply lipstick, use a palette knife to remove a small amount of lip color I require, and place it on a metal palette.  Brow Pencils & Lip Liners are sharpened after every use and dipped in alcohol to sterilise.

I have bottles of various makeup cleaners which mainly contain IPA (Isopropanol Alcohol).  All products are sprayed with IPA after use.

I use Airbase Airbrush Foundation, which is sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush gun and compressor.  This is much more hygienic, as with using a conventional brush or our fingers there is the potential to spread bacteria and germs across the face. By spraying Airbrush makeup onto the face we can avoid this.

  • Would you be open to using my own makeup?

Yes, please bring these with you for your trial.  However I do have to take into account hygiene, so I may need to decant or use your applicators to ensure bacteria on the makeup does not contaminate my tools/brushes.

  • How long will my makeup last?

A wedding day can be hard-going on your makeup, especially in summer with heat and humidity.

All my makeup is professional long-lasting, water-resistant makeup,  This is why I use airbrush foundation as it feels luxurious on the skin and is incredibly lightweight as it's silicone-based. This foundation is durable and long-lasting - perfect for bridal beauty. This also means its tear resistant!

  • Which products will I need to buy?

The makeup is long-lasting, therefore the only item you usually need to have on hand to touch up is lipstick!

  • What Is Airbrush Makeup?

A perfect foundation is the best basis for a flawless complexion, especially when you're looking for a serious 'WOW' complexion for your big day - accept nothing less than flawless!   Airbase provides a long-lasting finish which means you won't need to worry about any touch-ups during your special day.

Its light and pigmented, creating a lovely flawless finish which is great in your wedding photos.  It feels luxurious on the skin and is incredibly lightweight as it's silicone-based. This foundation is durable and long-lasting - perfect for bridal beauty. This also means its tear resistant!  It comes in a wide range of colours that can be mixed allowing perfect colour matching to any skin tone.

As it is applied using a spray, it is the most hygienic way to apply makeup due to its minimal contact with skin. Best of all, it conceals a range of imperfections (perfect for covering spots or moles!).

  • Do you only use Airbrush Foundation?

I mainly use airbrush foundation as its long-lasting and water-resistant, but I do have other foundations if for any reason you do not like the airbrush when you try it on your trial.

  • Will a fake tan affect my makeup?

No!  However, if you are planning to fake tan I would suggest doing this before your makeup trial so you can judge your makeup correctly.  However, I can adjust the makeup on the day of your wedding to your current skin colour.

Hair Questions

  • What Styles of Hair can you do?

I can style your hair in any way you desire; down and natural loose curls, side messy bun, chignon, half up half down with plait or braid or twists with a veil and tiara or wedding flowers!

Not sure how to have your hair? This blog post might help!

But don't worry - this is what the trial is for! We can go through looks and styles depending on your outfit and hair / face type and tone.  I can build this up with you to ensure you feel like the best version of you for your wedding day.

  • Can i look at suggestions of styles

You are welcome to bring in any inspirational images to try on your trial, and you can view styles I have done before on my website, Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram

  • Will my hair stay in all day?

I know you’ll want to look good all day long. I pin your hair in a way that is comfortable and secure.  I will also ask you to do some headbanging before I leave to ensure your hair will survive the evening on a dancefloor!

  • Will you bring your own products (a blow dryer, curling iron and other necessities), or will I be responsible for supplying them?

Yes! I come with my complete hair kit ready to do your bridal party's hair.   If you prefer to use your own products that's no problem - just let me know!

  • Will you provide hair accessories?

I do have some basic accessories and a veil to use as examples to help you decide which hair accessories you would like on your trial, however, you will need to purchase your chosen ones for your wedding day.

  • What if I want to take my veil out during my wedding day?

No problem, I can show some or all of your wedding party how to remove the veil so you can take it out after your photos.

Making Changes to Your Booking Questions

  • My wedding party has changed, can I remove / add bridesmaids?

Of course - please let me know as soon as possible.
As long as you're happy to start earlier I am happy to add people to the booking.  If numbers decrease, a minimum fee may apply. Unfortunately, I am not able to refund for bridesmaids removed 1 month before the wedding, however, you are welcome to have guests etc have hair/makeup in their place.

  • What If I need to postpone my wedding due to COVID?

I will try to be as accommodating as possible during the pandemic, and follow the latest government guidance (including PPE and hygiene). If you need to change your wedding date due to COVID-19 please let me know as soon as possible, especially if you have another date, so I can hold it for you.

All weddings are fully transferable to your new date with a 15% admin fee. However, if your wedding is postponed by more than 18 months, the cost of services may increase to reflect my yearly increase (no more than 10%). If I am unavailable for your new wedding date I will do my best to help find another artist/stylist for you. If your trial has already taken place, unfortunately I am unable to refund the cost of the trial. If your trial has not taken place, I am happy to transfer the cost of the trial to a gift voucher to use against any services I offer (makeup, hair or beauty).

I believe this is fair, and in accordance with the government guidelines

Wedding Day Questions

  • How should I prep my hair/skin before the wedding day?

    For Makeup:

Please cleanse, tone, and moisturise as normal in preparation for the makeup.

    For Hair:

Please wash your hair the day before, and do not straighten or put any product in your hair (as hair will stay in place much better with a day+ of natural oil).

Anyone having a blow dry, please wash your hair just before your appointment time so your hair is damp.

  • What space do you need?

    For Makeup:

An area near the window with some natural light to set up, with some space on a table to put my brushes and products.   I will normally bring a high director's chair.

    For Hair:

Some space at a desk or dining table and chair, near a plug socket.  A dining table and chair or hotel desk are perfect!

  • Will you be on time?

I will definitely try my best!   The great thing about starting at 6am on a Saturday is there is rarely traffic! I provide timings before the day to ensure everyone knows where to be, so the morning runs as smoothly as possible, as well as allowing time at the end for touch-ups, so if anyone does overrun for any reason then there is still plenty of time before you need to walk down the aisle!  My timings allow for breaks to see the photographer, flowers arriving or to hug your bridesmaids or parents!

  • How long will each person take?

When you book, I will confirm approximate timings, which we will go through at your trial. However, as a guide:

I allow up to 1.5 hours for Bride's Hair & Makeup.

For the bridal party, I allow:

    25 mins for makeup

    35 mins for hair

20 mins for flower girls hair

  • What will happen if you're ill or have an emergency on the wedding day?

Bookings will only ever be cancelled by me in extreme circumstances (such as personal emergencies, COVID-19, extreme traffic or car breakdown, illness, or severe weather conditions) – and thankfully this has never happened to me yet.

Every attempt will be made to arrange another makeup artist/hairstylist on your behalf. In this instance, I will return your deposit and booking costs minus the cost of your trial. If I am unable to arrange an alternative artist/stylist, 100% of the wedding day booking costs will be refunded. I am unable to offer any compensation fees and recommend you purchase private wedding insurance to cover this.

  • How long will you be staying for on the day?

When you book, I will confirm the approximate timings on the booking confirmation.

I usually aim to finish 45min - 1 hour before you need to leave, to allow time for any touch-ups and for me to pack up my kit before we need to vacate the room.
